Title:
[HP Pavilion g6-2245sg Notebook PC] High core temperature makes fan
run frequently, brings down time on battery

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
This is a newly installed Kubuntu 12.10 on a new HP g6-2245sg
notebook, dual boot with Windows 8 which was pre-installed.

Under Ubuntu the cpu fan kicks in frequently even if the cpu is idle
(according to various system monitors. The HW temperature applet
shows the temperature going up to 56°C, then the fan kicks in and
brings it down to ca. 48°C. The fan stops until the temp is up again
to 56°C, where it kicks in again etc.

When booting Win8, the idle temperature is stable at 40 °C, and the
fan never runs unless the PC is busy long enough that the core temp
goes into the 50°C range, which only happens when playing videos etc.

This is not only annoying because of the fan noise, but also reduces
the battery runtime significantly compared to Win8.
