Title:
BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 61s! [events/0:6] on Pentium III
733MHz, SOYO 7BVA
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
I'm getting this error on a fresh Ubuntu Server 10.04 install on a Pentium III 733MHz, SOYO 7BVA, 384Mb RAM, 4Gb hard disk. The system was fully operational with CentOS 5.2
I'm unable to do a normal boot, instead I have to use the "rw init=/bin/bash" kernel parameters at the Grub prompt.
I booted that way and made aptitude update && aptitude upgrade to get
latest 2.6.32-23 kernel, but when I reboot, I still get the same
problem.
I tried with this mainline kernel as suggested, but still the same problem.
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.32.16-lucid/
Here is what I get from console, using the --verbose kernel option at the Grub prompt:
