[Bug 887776] [NEW] Dell Latitude e4200 Ambient Light sensor doesn't work
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
I have a problem with my system, i think it's a kernel issue because
light sensor stop to respond after kernel load.
For example, when i am in the GRUB menu, light sensor work correctly and
i can enable and disable sensor with FN+left arrow, but when kernel
starts to load, without any module loaded (i stop loading to an
emergency shell, so i eliminate issues concerning modules or any other
software, i.e. gnome-power-manager), light sensor stops to work.
I test my pc with a CentOS 5.5 live (kernel 2.6.18) and it's OK, also in
emergency shell, if i try with CentOS 6 (kernel version over 2.6.30) the
issue is present, so i think it's a kernel regression, but i'm not sure.
My collegue with a Dell Latitude XT (it's an older series) has not the
issue, its ambient light sensor works fine.
with lsinput i identify the Dell Wky Hotkeys and if i check with
/lib/udev/keymap -i input/event6 i read:
scan code: 0x4B key code: unknown
So is this a problem related to dell_wmi?
What can i do to identify the issue more precisely?
