Title:
Blackscreen detected in-built camera
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I got an Acer with a Suyin built-in camera. It has worked perfectly
since I have change from Window 8 three weeks ago but recently has
showed me a black screen when using Skype or cheese. I have tried to
reboot Ubuntu on it. First time it did work until I installed the
recommended updates. Untill third time I rebooted, it has worked but
somehow it went black again after some updates. I now tried to boot
Ubuntu version 12.04 instead of 12.10. It has work so far with all the
updates installed I could get a picture on my webcam when using Skype.
But today without any updates it crashed and now I am back with the
black screen on both Skype and Cheese.
One other thing is my screenlight cannot be dimmed, this is from both
Ubuntu version. When I pressed the command «Fn+up or down» it doens't
dim the screen but it shows the screenlight bar going up or down on
the screen. So I know it is working somehow if it shows the command on
the screen.
Here I have tested and got some information from the system to
understand better what was going on with the camera. Unfortunately I
dont really understand them. Hope you can do better :)
The camera has been detected by the System Testing but gives me anwers like this for the first test: *Could not load image 'camera_test_25112w.jpg'.Error interpreting JPEG image file (Improper call to JPEG library in state 200)*
And the final results: camera/detect PASSED: /dev/video0: OK name : HD
