As well, as per http://download.lenovo.com/express/ddfm.html an update is available for your BIOS (2.17). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and just provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

  Every 15 minutes or so, the cursor stops reacting to input from the
  touchpad or trackpoint.  Unfortunately this machine has a "clickpad"
  instead of separate buttons and so it is impossible to use the machine
  without the touchpad, which means that Ubuntu is virtually unusable.  In
  Windows on the same machine there is no problem.
