[Bug 1301010] [NEW] Dell Inspiron 9400 - Can't Properly Shutdown Ubuntu 14.04

Public bug reported:

Because of another issue (with my network card), I'm submitting this bug
using the Live CD.

The issue is, I cannot properly shutdown Ubuntu 14.04 on this Dell
Inspiron 9400 laptop.

After initiating a shutdown, it goes to the Ubuntu splash screen (I
guess you call it) where there is a progress bar like thing under the
word Ubuntu.

It will never get passed this screen. Ultimately, I have to hold down
the power button for 5 seconds to shut it down.
