[Bug 1312965] Re: AMD A6 System won't wake from sleep-Black Screen
Steve Jones, as per http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5264742#N931 an update to your BIOS is available (F.48). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.
For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.
Thank you for your understanding.

** Description changed:
When I close my laptop and then open it, it will not wake up. The screen
remains black. Otherwise the system is fine when running all
applications, games, and such.
- The system wakes when using the proprietary drivers but seems to have
- stability issues when using it (artifacts on dash every couple of days
- that disappear when I log out and log back in and occasional freezes
- where the screen is black with white lines on wake once every several
- days).
