Re: [Bug 1315027] Re: [Dell Precision M6600] Suspend puts laptop in state requiring hard power down + power up

I just looked at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds?action=show&redirect=KernelMainlineBuildswhere
the link you posted (
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds) redirects, and I see one
stumbling block. I'm using the proprietary nvidia drivers because the
default noveau driver only gives me 1024x768 on my laptop, whereas the
display is actually 1600x900. Since I can't get useful work done at
1024x768, I will either have to figure out how to get an nvidia driver
working with 3.15-rc5, or I will need to figure out how to get the noveau
driver to give me 1600x900.
I'll see if I can figure out a solution and keep you posted. Thanks for
the response.
Regards

Title:
[Dell Precision M6600] Suspend puts laptop in state requiring hard
power down + power up
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
At random (I estimate perhaps 20-25% of the time), when I suspend my
Kubuntu 14.04 (upgraded from 13.10, not a fresh install) laptop, it
blanks the screen, and displays a message such as that below on the
text console. Then, instead of going to sleep, it remains powered up.
In this state, nothing works to get back control, not Ctrl-Alt-Del,
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, Ctrl-Alt-F2 (or other function key), not ^C. The
only way I have found to get control is to hold the power button down,
which is a power-down and then power-up.
Message on console is:
[40066.396632] PM: Syncing filesystems ... done
[40066.767832] PM: Preparing system for mem sleep
[40066.768398] i2400m_usb 2-1.5:1.0: firmware i6050-fw-usb-1.5.sbcf: Cached
[40066.768473] Freezing user space processes ... (elapsed 0.002 seconds) done.
[40066.772353] Freezing remaining freezable tasks ... (elapsed 0.001 seconds) done.
[40066.772353] PM: Entering mem sleep
[40044.772472] Suspending console(s) (use no_console_suspend to debug)
