[Bug 1320833] Re: Synaptics touchpad not detected on an HP F5Y33UA running Ubuntu 12.04

I am running ubuntu 12.04 LTS on acer Aspire E1-522
>From net I found this version uses Synaptic touchpad.

I am facing similar problem.

I have tried your solution using upstream kernel
uname -a
Linux advait 3.15.0-031500rc1-generic #201404131835 SMP Sun Apr 13 22:36:23 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

but still xinput --list shows
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2	[master pointer (3)]

Title:
Synaptics touchpad not detected on an HP F5Y33UA running Ubuntu 12.04

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I got a new laptop that came with Windows 8 but Windows 8 is bad so I uninstalled that and put Ubuntu 12.04 on there instead. When I had Windows 8 the touchpad worked fine but now it doesn't do anything, no scrolling and no clicking. So I attached the output of dmesg and the contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /proc/bus/input/devices like the wiki says I should. I hope we can fix this, thanks!
