[Bug 1250281] Re: depmod fills disk to 100% with modules.ccwmap

It turns out removing the linux-image-3.2.0-64-generic package (this
also requires to remove linux-image-generic) afterwards gave an error
message and my /vmlinuz file was gone.

Marking the linux-image-3.2.0-63-generic for reinstall in synaptic and
reinstalling it recreated the files and terminated without errors.

Installing linux-image-3.2.0-64-generic afterwards (second attempt)
terminated without filling the disk and without errors except for the
following thing which I cannot make sense of, it seems to be
contradictory:

===
Running depmod.
update-initramfs: deferring update (hook will be called later)
Examining /etc/kernel/postinst.d.
run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/apt-auto-removal 3.2.0-64-generic /boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-64-generic
run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/dkms 3.2.0-64-generic /boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-64-generic

: Unable to find an initial ram disk that I know how to handle.
Will not try to make an initrd.
run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/initramfs-tools 3.2.0-64-generic /boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-64-generic
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-3.2.0-64-generic
===

Title:
  depmod fills disk to 100% with modules.ccwmap

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I'm running 12.04.3
  Ubuntu 3.8.0-33.48~precise1-generic 3.8.13.11
  When I used the Update Manager gui today it quickly filled my hdd to 100%.
  The culpret appeared to be /lib/modules/3.8.0-33-generic/modules.ccwmap
  It had become 35G.
  I have since deleted the file and apt-get purged pkgs related to that kernel.
  I think this bug is similar to https://launchpad.net/bugs/1232473
