[Bug 1332615] Re: 'ALPS Touchpad' incorrectly detected as PS/2 mouse in 'Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14'

Konstantin Gizdov, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.16-rc1

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

Title:
[Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14] ALPS Touchpad incorrectly detected as PS/2
  mouse

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Laptop Model: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 14
  Model Name: 20308

Touchpad Manufacturer: ALPS - listed as such in dmesg, not confirmed
  and not specified by manufacturer

The touchpad is incorrectly detected by the kernel during Ubuntu 14.04
x64 installation. The touchpad never worked correctly. It is only able
to register button clicks and move the mouse pointer. Scroll, taps,
multitouch, etc are not available and do not show as available option.
"Synclient -l" returns "Couldn't find synaptics properties. No
synaptics driver loaded?" Actually, anywhere I looked, the touchpad is
just listed as a PS/2 Generic Mouse.

I also used dkms to install the extra ALPS v7 kernel module from
he1per/psmouse-dkms-alpsv7 on GitHub. Still, the kernel was not able
to detect the touchpad and enable any of its functions.

I have included the required debug logs in the attached
  debug_logs.tar.gz file.

This bug has been confirmed on AskUbuntu by several users and several
  unanswered support requests.
