Package crda, when uninstalled from an Ubuntu 14.04 LTS system causes a
kernel panic. ( ie no complete boot-up just a frozen system with a stack
trace on the screen ). Package crda has a priority of optional noted in
its control file. One would thus not expect a kernel panic after
uninstalling it.

To reproduce this bug just un-install package crda and reboot. ( be sure
its not an important system because it will render it completely
unbootable even in recovery mode ).

This happened to an extremely important development machine with lots
and lots of software installed and configurations. System wide. I am
hoping that a user backup and re-install of Ubuntu will not be needed. I
am hoping that a procedure would be developed to get a system out of
this specific kernal panic state. Some kind of manual low level re-
install of package crda and dependencies ?
