[Bug 1387144] Re: why does linux-image-generic depend on thermald

I forgot to mention that thermald does exit if the H/W or visualized H/W
does not support the necessary thermal controls, so on these systems
it's more like a no-op.

Title:
why does linux-image-generic depend on thermald

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
i've just upgraded to 14.10, and i see that linux-image-generic now
lists thermald as a dependency. is this really a genuine requirement
now, that without which a computer cannot be used?

can this be listed as a recommended or suggested dependency instead,
so that it is not forced to be installed on computers which have no
  use for it?
