[Bug 1387144] Re: consider dropping thermald to a Recommends: on linux-image-* meta packages
Discussed this with the release team and it seems completely appropriate
for this to be a Recommends: such that it can be removed in those rare
cases it is deemed not needed by a knowledgeable owner.
Pushed this change to vivid, and submitted for SRU to utopic.
** Summary changed:
- why does linux-image-generic depend on thermald
+ consider dropping thermald to a Recommends: on linux-image-* meta packages

Bug description:
i've just upgraded to 14.10, and i see that linux-image-generic now
lists thermald as a dependency. is this really a genuine requirement
now, that without which a computer cannot be used?
can this be listed as a recommended or suggested dependency instead, so that it is not forced to be installed on computers which have no use for it?
