Title:
  Can not enter password to decrypt disk at boot

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I have upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04 to 14.10. My whole disk is encrypted
  with luks and since the upgrade I have found I can no longer unlock my
  disk at boot. The enter password screen appears, but typing does not
  cause any characters to appear in the password box. However, if I hit
  ctrl-alt f7 (not sure of the precise function key) I get a black
  screen with a flashing white cursor and I can see the password that I
  entered. This would seem to imply that this is not a problem with the
  usb drivers, as has been reported in other similar bugs. It's as if
  the focus is simply in the wrong place at the time when I need to
  enter my password. Entering the password anyway and pressing enter has
  no effect.

  By using Grub to select the previous kernel, I can then decrypt my
  disk and use the system as normal. The working kernel version is
  3.13.0-39-generic. The problematic kernel is 3.16.0-24-generic.
