Message #91449
[Bug 1395284] Re: Unstable wireless connections with 802.11n and kernel 3.16
Giovanni, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
The next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 3.16 to
3.18-rc5 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately
by the first good one. Once this commit has been identified, then it may
be reviewed as a candidate for backporting into your release. Could you
please do this following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F
? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit
bisecting.
Thank you for your understanding.

** Description changed:
Using kernel 3.16 the wireless connections on 802.11n networks are very
unstable and they fail after few minutes. Even if the NetworkManager
says that it is still connected, nothing works and I have to manually
- disconnect and connect again. And so on.
+ disconnect and re-connect.
- The problem was not present in kernel 3.14 (i.e. in Ubuntu 14.04) and
- seems to be resolved in 3.18-rc5, even if in this case the connections
- seem to be slower (but stable).
+ The problem was not present in in Ubuntu 14.04 and seems to be resolved
+ in 3.18-rc5, even if in this case the connections seem to be slower (but
+ stable).
- The solution (or better, the workaround) that has been proposed in
- askubuntu does not work for me ( http://askubuntu.com/questions/544074
- /unstable-wireless-in-ubuntu-14-10 ).
-
- I have no problem with older wifi standard: if I set my router to not
- use the 11n standard, it works perfectly.
+ WORKAROUND: Use 802.11g.
