Title:
Broadcom Wifi connection gets cut when downloading files

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Similar to but 1312358, the connection gets cut everytime I'm downloading a big file or a group of big files. The indicator in network manager appears connected but I can't access any site until the wifi connection is restarted.
Observed in Ubuntu 14.04 and 14.10.
I've tried with the solution in the aforementioned bug but I get this:

$ sudo iwconfig wlan0 power on
Error for wireless request "Set Power Management" (8B2C) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported.
