[Bug 1397032] Re: Lenovo Thinkpad T540p Intel Wireless Dual Band 7260AC fails to connect

Federico Sassi, as per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t540p an update to your BIOS is available (2.16). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

** Description changed:

- I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T540p with Intel Dual band Wireless 7260AC and the wireless connection isn't working correctly.
- It will list the available networks but when trying to connect it will keep asking for the password or when it connects the connection will last only few seconds and the packet loss on a ping will be very high.

- I've followed bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1354975 in order to find a solution but without luck.
- I've tried to turn off power management, install latest kernel ( linux-image-3.17.0-031700-generic ) and related updated firmware according to http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi . Tried also the updated firmware for the older kernel and with the older kernel.
- I've tried also Ubuntu 14.10 with same results.
