Hi,
I think the idea of creating a new/separate board object is a good one.
It could also lay the foundations for grouping components together for
routing. Then when specific groups of components have been routed they
could be moved around the board as a group to aid placement. This
grouping of components could be linked to how components are arranged
in a projects schematic sheets.
Let me know if this makes sense and if its possible to implement.
