half screen output garbled

Hi,

I just updated to recent bzr and the screen output is garbled in the
bottom half:

This persists if I press F3.  If I scroll up, good screen contents
scroll in, and everything is okay.  If I scroll down, garbled contents
appear from below.

This is on Ubuntu Oneiric.
