I would hope that the development team understands the issue.  I don't
want KiCad to be unusable in a large number of modern Linux distros nor
do a want the distro packagers to have to jump through a lot of hoops to
get KiCad to build.  I would rather not have to drop the hammer but I
could if it came to that.
