SIGTRAP crash with ngspice

I tried another ngspice experiment. I ran a simulation, and it worked, albeit with the data size warning I asked about earlier. So far so good.

However, the ngspice window showed some really strange text, as if the font was missing many characters. Here is a link to a screenshot:

I attempted to select the strange text, so I could paste it into this email, but that provoked a SIGTRAP crash:

(kicad:14688): Gdk-ERROR **: 12:16:00.118: The program 'kicad' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 493730 error_code 3 request_code 18 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Thread 1 "kicad" received signal SIGTRAP, Trace/breakpoint trap.
