Once the licensing issues are fixed, than I'm fine with merging this.
@Tom, do you have any comments on this? There was also a patch for for
BSD a while back that you never commented on as well. We should address
the context switching portability issues by either deciding to support
all platforms that Boost supports (since it is effectively their code)
or drop support for less popular platforms. My preference is the former.
