Thanks Ian. I appreciate your help. I'm glad we don't need two merge requests for the two branches.
I do wonder if there is a better way for us to structure this search so that we don't have to touch the file every time a new Python version is released.
I wonder that too, but I don't know enough about cmake to judge.

I pushed a change to my KiCad code repo to add python 3.9 as a supported version, because Fedora is actively rebuilding everything for python 3.9.
As this is my first contribution via gitlab, please let me know if I created the merge request properly.
In particular, this should go into both master and 5.1 - do I need to make a separate merge request for 5.1, or can/will it be cherry-picked by whomever does the merge?
