Hi Michael,
I see that this can be more work, but I really like where you are going with this. Besides just being more open, I like that you are getting some real customer feedback early in the process. Also, having some documents on a piece of work, particularly a more significant effort is always worth it, IMHO, even if these do get out of date over time.
