I'm practically an old hand and they're the same problems for me.
There are a few tricks you can use to not forget branches:
* Consult https://code.edge.launchpad.net/~jcsackett/launchpad
* Consult https://code.edge.launchpad.net/~jcsackett/+activereviews
* Delete local copies (or checkouts) of branches after they've been
merged into stable/db-stable
* Keep the number of branches low
I especially rely on the third one, since it's really easy for me to
do `ls ~/src/launchpad` to see what work I've got outstanding.
