Message #08067
Mercurial imports as "beta" ?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Launchpad is pretty reliable at importing from Git and Subversion
repositories these days. There are a few remaining issues (most notably
not being able to import submodules) but we can successfully import from
nearly all repositories (for example, only 20 of the ~1200 bzr-svn
imports are failing). Where it is not possible to do a successful import
for some reason, the importers generate a sensible error message in the
import log.
Mercurial imports have a much worse track record; bzr-hg is not as
mature yet as bzr-git or bzr-svn are, and fails in a lot more cases. In
fact, I think something like 20% of the initial imports are failing (and
even more during incremental imports).
Of course we would like to fix the underlying issues, and we're planning
to do so but that won't happen overnight. In the mean time I think we
should temper expectations by mentioning Mercurial imports are "beta".
Does this sound reasonable, and what would be the best way to go about
doing this?
Cheers,
Jelmer
