Message #00007
Creative Commons support
Here are some thoughts as to how Libravatar could make use of the Creative
Commons licenses.
- all images must be licensed so that they can be copied so we'll offer only
Creative Commons when uploading/importing a photo
- same choosing interface as Mahara (see attached screenshot)
- upload_photo has optional query string param (e.g. license="cc-by-sa")
- checkbox on the upload photo page:
[x] I release this image under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 [link to
creative commons site] license (change this [link to /upload_license])
- photos get licensing info added to their EXIF/comment tags
- imported photos (i.e. Gravatar and Identica) need licensing checkbox too
- built-in gallery is licensed under the GPL (should this be the only
exception to all CC images?)
- what should the default license be? cc-by-sa? cc-nd?
Does it make sense? Do you have other ideas?
Cheers,
Francois
