Hello hackers,
As you should recall from Michael O' announcement, we're going to
run an amazing night of (mostly) fun and games at the next Linaro@UDS:
The Linaro Technical Showcase. Think of a big ballroom with food, more
hackers and a wide variety of demonstrations of Linaro-related
technology, products, challenges and ideas. To come up with that wide
variety, of course, we're relying on you! Here's more on how you can
participate:
- You can enroll as an individual or as a two-person team. The
two-person team shares the prizes, which include a first place
cash prize, some cool hardware and more.
- Be creative! Even if you don't work on a Linaro-powered robot, you
can still participate by thinking of a demo that demonstrates some
Linaro technology. It can even be a demonstration of a problem
that Linaro hasn't solved yet -- maybe an interactive view on the
ARM kernel architecture madness, or an analsis of how bad the
Android boot process is, your latest crazy idea on how to
revolutionize mobile computing.
Remember: It doesn't have to be a flying robot. It just has to be
interesting.
- We'll provide you with a desk, power, ethernet, and a screen (if
you request it). We may be able to provide you with even more if
you ask sufficiently in advance.
- Having a poster is not a bad idea if you're going to use the
monitor to run the demo itself; we'll even print it for you (if
you provide the file in time).
- I'll even wear a real tuxedo for the night. It's going to be
/that/ big. Bring yours too!
- To answer the #1 FAQ: no, you're not allowed to drop all your work
items to work on your demo. As a rule of thumb, you can use up to
3 hours a week of Linaro time on it, and you are free to invest as
much of your evenings and weekends into it -- remember, there's a
cash prize <wink>

You should request your demo proposal to Michael (set in the Reply-To
here) and he'll work with you on the format and any special requirements
it may have.
See you all there!
