[Bug 950426] [NEW] dpkg error for bad syntax in version

Public bug reported:

$ sudo linaro-media-create --mmc /dev/sdb --dev panda --hwpack
hwpack_linaro_lt-panda-x11-base_20120221-1_armel_supported.tar.gz
--binary linaro-o-ubuntu-desktop-tar-20120223-1.tar.gz

...
First installation: checking all kernels...
dpkg: error: version '*-*' has bad syntax: version number does not start with digit
It is likely that 2.6.32 belongs to a chroot's host
...

Unaware user might take this as an error. It's also confusing that there
is comment hinting about kernel version 2.6.32 while both host and
target image have 3.x kernel version.

** Affects: linaro-image-tools (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
