Thanks for this bug report. But at first look, it seems to not be linked at Openshot but more at you Drivers cards. You should use the previous version  for checking it they are not the problem.
So, I must mark this one invalid.

Status in “nvidia-common” package in Debian:
  New

Bug description:
  GLX video Output(XCB) Works for VLC and Does not Crash My Desktop. But
  Movie Player, Openshot and Other Programs will freeze my desktop when
  I play any video form. The Mouse can Still move but my Keyboard
  becomes inactive making using a terminal impossible any ideas why ?.
