Title:
Gnome-do appears / opens twice
Status in Do:
Expired
Bug description:
Since updating to Ubuntu 9.04 from 8.10 Gnome-do has started behaving
in a new way.
I know many updates went onto my system at and around that time, so
this may not have anything do to with my upgrade to 9.04.
I have a hot key set for gnome-do. It is Alt-Enter.
When I call gnome-do it appears as per normal. I type what I want to find and go to that. Let's say I am opening an app... once that app has opened the gnome-do window will come back again, as though I have hit Alt-Enter a second time.
It does not do it every time... perhaps 95% of the time. I have not figured out a pattern to when it does not do this behaviour.
I tried to completely uninstall it (complete removal in Synaptic) and this made no difference. When I reinstalled it kept doing the appear twice routine.
In essence: First instance of g-do appears. Command typed in. Command
is completed (e.g. an application opens completely). G-Do reappears. I
have to hit ESC or click somewhere on the screen (other than on the
g-do window) to get the second instance to go away.
I'd love to sort this out... because often if I quickly start typing
into the app I have pulled up (a text editor for instance) what I type
will end up being captured by the second instance of Gnome-do that has
in that moment appeared.
I have version 0.8.2
Another issue I discovered in looking for the version number which I
suspect may be related is that if I go to the About box on Gnome-do I
can't close that window, and thus lose all use of g-do. I have to kill
the process and start it again. I opened the about box by bringing up
g-do (Alt-Enter) and then using the drop down menu it has. I think
that once the about box appears it is then trying to launch g-do again
but can't because I have the about box open. Just a guess.
