[Bug 1032780] Re: Export h264 profile specifies ac3 instead of aac
According wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_container_formats), you can associated audio MP3, WMA, AAc and AC3 and DT-s. It is not an obligation to use AAC with H264.
Why this choice instead of AAC ? For legal reasons (need a special versionof FFmpeg for common users (Medibuntu or Sven'PPA). Another reason is this format is know on every kind of hardware, more than AAC.
But we know that our export screen is not perfect and we'll work on when it will be the moment.
Thanks.

Title:
Export h264 profile specifies ac3 instead of aac
Status in OpenShot Video Editor:
Invalid
Bug description:
I've been editing a source file from an Xacti HD-1010 720p 29.97, that
conforms with MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and MPEG-4 audio (AAC compression). I
had exported a file using the HD 720p 29.97 fps profile, which seemed
to play fine. When I used Handbrake to downsample the video further,
I noticed pumping noises in the audio.
Looking at the Openshot profile for HD 720p 29.97 fps, I notice that
the default audio codec is ac3. My reading at
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showthread.php?tid=12602#pid106960
says that "The official mp4 standards does not include AC3 as an
intended audio stream in the mp4 container. You are creating a non
standard file when you include 5.1 AC3 in an mp4 container".
I have changed the setting for the audio codec to be aac, manually.
You might save some effort for future people by correcting this
profile. Thanks.
Xubuntu 12.04, Openshot 1.4.0-1ubuntu1, libmlt 0.7.6+git20120204-2
