Message #01409
[Bug 598626] Re: new compile.txt
since i can't find any info in the current compile.txt that is missing
or even out-dated, i was merely suggesting re-formatting the current
.txt into an asciidoc file without any re-writing. then again if the new
phrasing appears as more readable, no problem going with it.
some remarks:
- can you strip the header/changelog info at the top? i can't see myself nor arne updating that anytime we do a change. "bzr log Compile.txt" is enough to get that info. your nick will be mentioned in help credits, don't worry... ;)
- casing: MinGW, SCons.
- just Perl, not "Strawberry Perl" (had never heard of that until now) since there is also ActivePerl or Cygwin (i'm using the latter).
- the instructions for where to put htmlhelp .h/.lib are wrong; there is an "htmlhelp" folder in the repo where they should go instead of as part of compiler includes.
- i globally find the "2. Setting up includes" part to be less correct and would prefer seeing it replaced by the current 1a) b) 2) etc from the current file. in particular, instructions for building with VC have been completely stripped in the proposed version. same for the current #5 that would be nice to keep.
