[Bug 598626] Re: new compile.txt

 

and i forgot another remark, about recommanding TDM's version as the compiler. TDM's version includes an old hack from MinGW's GCC 3.4 and prefers sjlj over dwarf, which is potentially slower. that is fine for debugging, but normally it is better to prefer the official MinGW which uses dwarf 2 or 3.
besides, i'm not fully sure about the legality of these forks of MinGW (TDM's, or mingw64) - they are not as strict when it comes to accepting patches. so as long as MinGW provides an acceptably recent GCC, it would be better to stick to it.
