Message #00220
History of Lubuntu Website - lubuntu.net
Hi,
Some old threads found on the Public Archive of Lubuntu Mailing List:
1. https://lists.launchpad.net/lubuntu-desktop/msg04911.html - Unsolved.
2. https://lists.launchpad.net/lubuntu-desktop/msg05038.html - Unsolved.
3. https://lists.launchpad.net/lubuntu-desktop/msg05474.html - someone
has offered his help to build a new website for Lubuntu and he had not got
the support he needed as far as I remember.
4. https://lists.launchpad.net/lubuntu-desktop/msg05377.html - back in
time when there were some kind of activities on the website.
5.
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/lubuntu-users/2012-January/000018.html-
back in time when there was some activities and some 'replies' from
people who have access to the website.
6.
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/lubuntu-users/2012-February/000423.html-
when there was some replies.
7.
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/lubuntu-users/2012-February/000499.html-
very interesting thread :)
8. https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/lubuntu-users/2012-March/000676.html-
another thread
9. https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/lubuntu-users/2012-March/000740.html-
still interesting to look at
10. https://lists.launchpad.net/lubuntu-comms/msg00063.html - one of the
related problems was the Twitter Account as it was with Mario (login
details) and he refused to give it to anyone and after so many emails and
endless tries, we failed to get the login details and that is when we
decided to create NEW twitter account. If you check twitter, you fill find
3 accounts, all claim to be the official one :D
11. Yet, another email:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/lubuntu-users/2012-February/000449.html
12. https://lists.launchpad.net/lubuntu-comms/msg00092.html - some
issues started to come up
13. Some interested threads about the website and the twitter account:
https://lists.launchpad.net/lubuntu-comms/thrd4.html
14. https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/lubuntu-users/2012-June/001654.html-
Long thread about the website.
15. FOR those who don't know that, this is when Julien officially
resigned from leading Lubuntu:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/lubuntu-users/2012-May/001516.html -
at that time, there was some issues on the team I think started from April
or May, can't remember but that was the email which has changed a lot in
Lubuntu, at least IMHO.
16. From Mario:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/lubuntu-users/2012-May/001415.html - I
guess after that period, no one has ever heard from him again but I could
be wrong about the date.
17. Someone who offered his help and waited for so long but ... well,
read:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/lubuntu-users/2013-February/003391.html
18. 4-May-2013, I sent a long email to Julien about the website but that
email never got an answer until date.
And, I am sure there are twice more threads on the archive on Lubuntu
Mailing List (main) and Lubuntu Comms Archive.
You see, the website issue has been the Mission Impossible for Lubuntu for
years.
THIS EMAIL JUST to shade more light on the issue :)
Give me one good reason why should I keep fighting for this cause? do you
think we can take the control over our own website? I don't think so.
Moving to plan B whatever it is? could be.
Do you have another thought?
Now, you guys have the history of Lubuntu Website, AKA lubuntu.net :)
I have nothing more to give/provide anymore when it comes to the website.
This must be a community decision either to do something and take over the
control over their own website OR go for Plan B (whatever you see fit).
Thanks!
