Lubuntu on ARM devices

Hi guys,

I was just wondering - since ultra-lightweightness :) - will there be
an ARM compilation of lubuntu? or more likely - just a way to compile
it by self and being able to use all the system's functionality? I
just got the idea that if lubuntu handles easily old and modern low
end/energy efficient hardware (like netbooks) - could it run on hi-end
mobile devices (MID and smartphone) like HTC TOUCH pro II, etc? I
believe that the hardware efficiency should be enough to handle
lubuntu - and it would allow access to a very large repository of
software to be usable on the phone - the only problem would be that it
would just lack the pure phone service, drivers and software... but
still, personally I'd give it a shot, if I knew how to compile a
system for ARM devices.

AND, of course, there will be some regular netbooks based on ARM
(tegra?) hardware, and since netbook is quite popular idea of where to
use lubuntu - why not also non-x86 netbooks?

I know that there is an ARM compilation of ubuntu and there is going
to be made something similar to UNR for ARMs. so is it possible to use
that ARM kernel and lubuntu-desktop package, or is it a bad idea?

I'm not talking about any official thing for lucid release - more of
an unofficial tip with HOWTO, that maybe would become new unofficial
branch of lubuntu in far away future. what do you think?

best regards, Kuba
