I made a system upgrade to the latest lubuntu 10.10 and now I get every
login a notification about that gnome-power-backlight-helper:
Authentication is needed to run '/usr/sbin/gnome-power-backlight-helper'
as the super user
Details:
/usr/sbin/gnome-power-backlight-helper --get-max-brightness
Run As: Super User (root)
And when I give the password, it doesnt do anything, I just get another
popup till the world's end.
Anyone else having the same problem too? And I hate when all the
programs starts asking permissions to run when you just log in.
Just delete /usr/sbin/gnome-power-backlight-helper or if you want to be
safe in case it may have be of some use later on, rename it to
/usr/sbin/gnome-power-backlight-helper_whatisthis so you can rename it back.
I did just that without trouble; doesn't seem to be significant.
You said you did an upgrade, so I assume it is not a fresh install. How
did you do that? Normally for Kubuntu, I kdesudo
"/media/cdrom/cdromupgrade" . Lubuntu does not have the alternate
install cd, so I had to "update-manager -d" which is much much slower
and noticed many dependency or package clashes and had to
reconfigure/force-install many of them. Do you also have package
inconsistencies?
But having it now perfect, I think it's a great improvement over Lucid.
Many thanks to PCMan, Julien, Rafael and many others who have
contributed to it. But please watch out for it being too bloated, we
don't want it to be just another distro. If users want to add say, Gimp
or OpenOffice, they can do that by themselves. Keep it lean and mean.
Great job. Thanks again.
