Yes, a lot of the functionality that used to be in gnome-power-manager
was moved to gnome-settings-daemon.
gconf should be going away with time. I think the main Ubuntu 11.10 CD
won't have gconf on it; it's not there yet but it's one of the Desktop
Team goals. It's deprecated in Gnome but it will take a while for all
apps to port to gsettings/dconf.
