Hi everyone.
I'm Jean Austin of Ubuntu Team Philippines. I read about this
interesting news in OMG! Ubuntu! online a few days ago and decided to
try it. I am running a virtualized Lubuntu 11.10 that I recently
upgraded to test the beta. However, like Matthew, I encountered the
same error message when launching Lubuntu Software Center in a
Terminal (with and without 'sudo'). I also tried launching it from the
LXDE menu but unfortunately had problems too.
I tried filing a bug report but an error box appeared and said
[Problem in ... lubuntu-software-center] "The problem cannot be
reported: This is not a genuine Ubuntu package."
Probably missed something to add or do?
I'll try some things more and would report to this list as soon as I can.

there goes my last few brain cells. I thought it was for 11.10 and
was not aware it was being back-ported in a complete test version
that has bugs back to 11.04. Still, you learn something new every
day :)

As i was unable to install 11.04 on my system from usb i had
to install 10.04 awhile back. After not being able to test the
