Something really odd in Lubuntu 12.04 ppc powermanagement

There is apparently a really odd problem with Lubuntu 12.04 ppc and
powermanagement/hibernate/standby/close lid:

First i'd like to assure we speak about the same things so just to be sure:

Hibernate (german: Ruhezustand) = computer writes the actual content
to a file on the disk and the powers down
Standby (german: Bereitschaft) = computer writes the actual content
into ram and then shuts down the screen but stays power on in energy
saving mode
Shutdown screen
Dark out screen

Is that, in non professional words more or less correct?

My setup is (PB G4 2003):

pbbuttonsd is installed (by default) and started (in addition i
installed powerprefs, which is a gui to it)
xfce powermanagement was installed and activated

Now, when i go to Ruhezustand (Hibernate) the computer after doing
something goes down correctly but with the messed up screen like it
has when shutting down (so i cannot read what the computer is doing).
To wake him up i have to push the power-on button. I hear the
Macintosh chime, then comes up to the screen the yaboot specific infos
and then for a while nothing happens and then, at the end, there
appears a small white stripe on a black something like 5 pixels high
in the ground of the screen for ca. have the width of the screen. I
thought, that might be the messed up Login dialog after turning back
from a hibernate (which in my experience is different with debian is
different from the login-screen and sometimes need to press the space
key and typing in the pswd a second time) and i tried in several ways
to do what i did in debian (without seeing anything, obviously but
nada). I have to hard boot the machine.

This is true either using the Hibernate option in the xfce
powermanagement dialog or using the Hibernate option in the Lubuntu
shutdown dialog.

Now, i tried in several ways to play around this problem by cutting
out in some way the Hibernate option and to leave only the option RAM
in pbbuttonsd or xfce powermanagement, but i don't have any success.
In xfce powermanagement the option is not given and pbbuttonsd seems
to have no effect.

Any idea, what might be wrong there? For sure, as it is it is not a
viable status, since the computer, when i'm leaving it alone, after 1
hr or so goes down in any case what practically means it "crashes" on
me . . .

It would be already great, if the logout/hibernate/shutdown screen
(and the console!!!!!) wouldn't be messed up but readable. But, may be
someone could guide me to where, if at all, a misfunction like this
might be protocolled in a logfile. So i could go there and have you
have a look on it.

TIA
