>From my experience, that is about the minimum spec. I have run Lubuntu on a 266 Mhz machine with 384 MiB of RAM and that was quite usable. I currently have a 2.4 Ghz P4 machine with 256 MiB of RAM and a 500Mhz PIII with 640 MiB RAM side-by-side and the user experience is about the same.
