I personally don't do FB. It seems like just one more thing to deal with. To expound on that a bit, you may know that I have limitations due to a brain injury.

I began to encounter what I can only describe as an "overload" several months ago due to being subscribed to too many mailing lists and projects. So I really took a time out ;^)

Since then I find that I'm better able to focus on what I think is most important, like the abiword thing and this bug:

While that bug doesn't effect Lubuntu I needed a 5 year LTS solution for the 30+ puters I maintain so my focus had to be split between Lubuntu and Ubuntu.

Regarding the abiword thing I realize that Lubuntu does not plan on a 12.04.1 release (understandably) so I'm going to spend some time testing Xubuntu 12.04.1 just to try and find a fix for abiword.

Trust me, there really is some method in my madness. It's a matter of balancing what's possible with what's most important to me.

Going forward I should be able to focus more on Lubuntu alone. I particularly find PCManFM much easier to use than the newest Nautilus or Thunar.

It's all a matter of personal balance. Better to do one or two things right than to do ten things horribly.

there is a saying in the UK that "if people really knew how thin the blue line was, they'd be up in arms to their MP's" Roughly translated it is equates to the ratio of police to villains. 

So many people think that Ubuntu 'just happens', getting testers for every flavour / arch becomes a greater problem as more people just expect it "to work". 

I've had a bit of a bounce around of 'mad' ideas ... what about a QA facebook presence along the lines of [1] ?
Don't worry, it will have a different banner. (I have a tame graphics guy to do that).

never feel the need to apologise. Everyone on this QA team recalls being a new commer not just to testing, but to *buntu. 

To give you a little history of L-QA. We had a set of testers that would test our unofficial releases before we got full adoption for 11.10. From our just 'checking things worked' (which they did), we switched to having to file 'official' results. This was a steep learning curve for everyone involved, we were fortunate to have some testers familiar with 'official' testing. Flying by the seat of our pants, and with so much patience and help from both ubuntu-testing and ubuntu-release we got through. Fast forward to now... the Lubuntu-QA team are respected and valued in the community. We will, and have, help any other flavour; just as they have gone beyond the call of duty to help Lubuntu. 


There are no dumb questions, just people who will not ask them. 
@all thanks for your input to nicholas's video presentations, a 10 minute video presentation can cover things that would take many, many pages of text to cover.
