Re: Survey Results
Hi Ali,
The facebook / google+ etc areas are all forms of social media. They can
help expand the word of the different areas that make up the greater family
that is Ubuntu. As long as they all point to the central resources & remove
the fear from new comers frightened to join because they do not yet have
the skills and are worried about appearing as fools then they can serve an
important role. These various social media sites are 'offtopic' areas and a
way to reach more people. If we gain even one more person into the unbuntu
family, they serve their purpose. What they are not is support areas;
people should always be pointed to the wiki areas / IRC channels for
detailed information. Having new comers give their input as to how our wiki
areas are set up and structured is a useful exercise in itself.
As group pages are pretty much self running in terms of people being able
to chat stuff that may not be 100% on topic, or just be unsure where to get
further advice from I do think that they serve a useful purpose.
Regards,
Phill.
