Re: Chromium eating memory
Hi Lars,
as per my last reply, Raring updates are blocked. I'm going to do a new
install for L13.04, which will take about an hour. If you fancy a 'play'
before I get it done, Alex is still the only one I so far know who is
keeping a reasonably upto date PPA for chromium[1] and a guy I have chatted
to about them. In all fairness, the Ubuntu / Canonical guys working on
Chromium have been concentrating on getting Chromium away from PPA's and
into a normal update system..
This has proven to be far more difficult than they thought, even in their
worst nightmares, to get to work. Whilst I do 'nag' at times, they are 100%
committed to have Chromium there as a normal update. I'm sure you and the
other guys appreciate that they *have* to concentrate on issuing things to
'stable', us people on testing have to be patient :)
As I mentioned, he also maintains a -dev link[2] which I use on Quantal.
Please do note everyone - I have not tried these updates with 13.04, so I
would advise you copy and paste into a text file the instructions about
reversing a PPA[3] as if you remove your browser, you will not be able to
log in and find them!
Regards,
Phill
