[PPC] Installation from live disc results in "soft lockup"

The 9/18 PPC disc booted up great from my Mac Mini and installation was
flawless until the time to reboot.

I got this error as it was trying to reboot:

BUG: soft lockup CPU#0 stuck for 23s [modemmanager:1310]

I did a hard poweroff, then rebooted, and am sending this from Firefox in
the new installation, so it doesn't appear to be critical.
