I found that the new kernel still locks up. I installed the beta2 for Desktop AMD64+mac yesterday and it froze up as I shut down. It has the latest repository kernel:
Linux lubuntu 3.11.0-8-generic #15-Ubuntu SMP Fri
Sep 20 04:11:26 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
