I think there is already a bug filed, but I had trouble finding it:

I don't see anything on the release page:

Maybe it is lower down on the list of known PPC issues:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPCKnownIssues
but the soluton listed there is much more verbose that the minimum
needed to boot.
