Maas weekly checkpoint meeting notes - 2012-02-07
Attendees: flacoste, mrevell, bigjools, Daviey
Actions from last week
----------------------
* bigjools to provide a code sample to Daviey
Done
Add a node story
----------------
* Adding a node from the provisioning server to Cobbler is working.
* Cobbler can boot the node by itself, but it's not being booted from
the UI yet.
* Gavin is adding the UI <-> Provisiong server connection.
* Current hostname scheme: "node-UUID", can be overriden when adding
the node.
* Huw is working on the visual designs. Has three options.
* Call with Marcus tomorrow.
* Huw should be able to implement the integration of the visual design
himself
* [ACTION] Daviey will take care of copying the script that keep
mini-ISO up-to-date into the maas package.
* Dan is testing Huw's wire-frame with people today.
* Will feedback the results to the Red squad.
* Story will be completed once the UI <-> provisioning server link is
completed and the feedback from the user testing is implemented.
* Next story to start will the 'Manage API keys' story.
* flacoste wondered if we shouldn't do the 'Manage users' first?
Julian reports Raphaël thought the API key one would require less UI
and be simpler. Plus it needs integration with the Juju-side.
Deploy a node through Juju
--------------------------
* Julian started a Maas provider for Juju.
* juju bootstrap works with it, until it actually try to provision a
node.
* Will now implement the API required on provisioning-server.
* Jeroen has started the meta-data service.
* Will mimick AWS EC2 meta-data provider as much as possible.
* Apart from exporting on the local IP
* Scott moser will start on cloud-init provisioning as
soon as enough of the meta-service is built. Jeroen will contact
him when this happens.
Coming up next
--------------
* Stories from the next iteration are the Installer integration and
the Avahi story.
* Matt wonders if they server team needs input from product team on
those?
* Daviey argued that since this is a ncurses-based UI, it's pretty
constrained and they might as well implement it and get a review
later.
Feature freeze is next week.
---------------------------
* [ACTION] Daviey to upload the maas package this week.
* [ACTION] flacoste will request a feature freeze exception.
* With the upload to the archive and feature freeze exception request,
the project will become more public.
* Daviey thinks we need more messaging around the project.
* Three examples of users wondering about orchestra
* Inventory software that wants to be integrated as be part of
orchestra Power management contributions to orchestra
* Some other to write paper about orchestra
* Think we should post on the server blog about the next steps to
orchestra.
