I don't think that's the case, because running sensors shows that my CPU

The CPU fan on my laptop isn't working. This results in high (and potentially fatal) CPU temperatures. Running ubuntu for about 10 minutes and then restarting into OSX results in a lot of fan activity to try and cool down the overheated CPU. I am running 9.10
